A tiny kitten with crippling leg injuries was saved by an Isle of Wight cat charity – and now the team is asking supporters to dig deep to replace thousands of pounds spent on operations and care.
Cats Protection Isle of Wight Cat Centre has launched a JustGiving appeal to foot bills for a 10-week-old kitten whose injuries were so severe that his rescuers thought he had already used up nine lives in his very short life – and so named him Ten.
Jo Morrison, Deputy Manager, has said:
“We don’t know what happened to this little guy, but the damage to his legs was not recent and it is thought he had been suffering for some time.
“It was clear this dear little kitten had been through a really tough time. He had horrific injuries, horrendous fractures to both back legs. His short life had been traumatic.”
The team who received him at Island VetCare determined that Ten needed urgent treatment to give this guy the best chance at survival, so he was rushed straight to the operating theatre.
Following several months of intensive aftercare by vet nurses and his foster carer, Ten was able to regain use of his legs and he was even witnessed playing like any other kitten.
Jo, went on to say:
“It was wonderful to see our little fighter come good after such a tough time.
“He has done so well, responded to all the therapy and rehabilitation.
“Ten is still very much a kitten and he enjoys lots of love and attention of his new owner, a vet nurse who tended to him from his first day in recovery. We are all so proud of Ten.”
The little chap is settling into his new life with a family who can watch over his full recovery.
He has also found a new friend in the family’s other cat Jack and the pair have become inseparable. But the charity is facing costs running into thousands of pounds to pay for Ten’s surgery and aftercare and is asking cat lovers to donate what they can to help foot the bill.

I pray he recovers and enjoys his other 8 lives.
