Emergency services are responding to a single vehicle crash on Middle Road at Calbourne tonight (Tuesday).
A car has rolled onto its side and off the carriageway near to Calbourne Mill on one of the main Newport to Freshwater routes.
Island Echo is told that 2 young occupants of the vehicle have been able to climb out of the wreckage without any serious injury.
Police were alerted to the crash at just before 21:10.
The road is thought to be passable at this time, but motorists should avoid the area for the time being.

a island driver that needs a retest
Bad weather, lots of water, black ice… but do not forget there are a couple of sharp bends in that area too.. SLOW down…. LOOK and THINK…. cars do not roll over on their own…
10 year ban I say… Undue care and attention.. Lets rid the Island of these stupid selfish road users..
I see a lot of parked cars and vans with illegal tyres. A copper could get his quota for the day by walking down and road issuing ticks for illegal cars.
They could use the council parking ticket people, however, if a car is illegal, their insurance companies will not pay out..
Rather than saying negative remarks about the driver, why not be thankful that they weren’t injured.
People are quick to say that the driver needs a retest or a ban, but almost no-one seems to care about the wellbeing of the driver. This person is probably very shaken up at being in an accident. How would you feel if it was your loved one? Would you still say they need a retest or a driving ban?
