A car has rolled across a field and through a hedge to become wedged across a narrow country lane in Newchurch this morning (Saturday).
Police are currently on scene at Skinners Lane between Newchurch and Queen’s Bower where a white Audi A3 has blocked the road in both directions.
Island Echo understands the vehicle’s handbrake either failed or wasn’t applied properly, eventually sending the car trundling across the grass – narrowly avoiding a number of trees.
The incident occurred at around 09:00.
No one has been injured in the incident and recovery of the vehicle has been arranged.
Omg how the heck did that happen??

Should have stuck to his bike!!
Whoops. Before people blame the owner, read my experience.
I had a handbrake fail many years ago. That was two weeks after having a full service at the BMW garage and passing MOT. They tried to say it was my fault. I got another garage to look, the handbrake shoes were falling apart. A lot of modern cars with disks on the back still use tiny shoes for the hand brake and they don’t get checked as it means removing the disks.
Thats why I always leave my car in a low gear after applying the cars electronic handbrake.
same here – always leave it in gear.
learnt that technique from buying cheapie second hand bangers years ago.
