UPDATED: CAR OFF ROAD INTO VEGETATION IN 2-CAR CRASH AT WHIPPINGHAM

Police have been called to a 2-car crash on the main road into East Cowes tonight (Wednesday).

1 of the vehicles involved – a silver Toyota – has veered off the road and into bushes at the side of the carriageway.

The second vehicle, a red Ford Focus, has sustained front end damage and is parked on the opposite side of the road.

It’s thought that the 2 vehicles collided almost head-on.

The crash, which occurred at just before 22:30, has taken place at Whippingham on a long bend just before Folly Lane on the way into East Cowes.

The road remains open at this time.

UPDATE @ 23:20 – Police are now on scene and are speaking to those involved.

No injuries are thought to have been sustained.

The stupid ones are people like you who make such moronic comments without even knowing what caused the accident. Could have been any number of reasons, not necessarily poor driving.

That particular bend (and the tree half-way up the hill) has been claiming victims for as long as I can remember. Some traffic calmng wouldn’t go amiss.
