Firefighters are tackling a car fire at Downend near Arreton this evening (Thursday).
1 appliance from Newport is on scene having been mobilised by control shortly before 17:55.
Traffic is building in the area.
UPDATE @ 18:28 – Investigations by the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service have established that an overheated engine sparked the alert. No fire was identified once on scene.
The single crew helped remove the vehicle from the carriageway.
