A double decker bus and a car have collided on Park Road in Cowes this afternoon (Friday).
The incident has occurred near to the skate park on the main road into town.
Island Echo is told that the car – a Hyundai i20 – pulled out of the Isle of Wight Community Club car park into the path of the oncoming Southern Vectis Route 1 bus shortly before 15:05.

Yet another car driver that does not look before pulling out ! How could one NOT see a bus ?? I feel sorry for the bus driver and any passengers .. The car driver got what was deserved. Driving with undue care and attention, or even dangerous driving, if it was a motorcycle/cyclist or scooter.. car pulled out front of, could have been deadly…,
I think “driving without due care and attention” is more likely.
It’s looking without seeing..to much of it also drivers don’t seem to gauge the speed of a moving vehicle
enough for careless driving but no chance of dangerous driving unless there is evidence to prove the driver had been driving dangerously beforehand.
Probably high as a kite
More bad driving on the IW
just another bad island driver
Skate park…. On obvious isn’t it, ice on the road
Maybe give that a go in English.
If you can’t see a bus then you shouldn’t be driving
Old Population on this little Island of ours.
Still, easy mistake to make, probably had a medical episode or BLINDed bye the sun ?
where does it give an age, no it doesnt so keep your ageist mouth shut you idiot
Another illiterate, ageist and offensive comment from Alamo.
The Council have cut back on the Pruning of High Hedges and embankments at road junctions . Saves costs .
Yes for God sake look people it’s no bloody hard is it
Y’know – I’ve always said green buses are dangerous – they blend seamlessly in with the hedges and trees. Trees and hedges don’t move, so why was this great big bit of hedge moving straight towards me?
Blue buses are even worse. You look at one and think, “that must be the sky”. Then all of a sudden the sky crashes into you.
Should have gone to specsavers…more idiots will be along soon….
Can’t you at least try and think of something original, and/or meaningful to say?
I’ve been driving busses and coaches for many years, mainland and on the island, and unfortunately the first thing that someone who has pulled out in front of you or driven into you says is , sorry I didn’t see you.
I blame the Audi driver
he/she didn’t see the bus as its two colour green, camouflage colours. lol
Not much front impact protection on the front of the Bus
i would bet this is an elderly driver in the car.once you hit 65 you should have to be retested.
idiot
All should be retested (theory test and eye test) every 10 years irrespective of age, with new drivers being tested after 3 years (irrespective of age) of passing test. If you fail the theory test have six months to do full driving test or loose licence.
Driving is a privilege not a right.
I did my full motorcycle test after driving 20 years in cars, I learnt a lot of new stuff. If you did you test in the 70’s / 80’s a LOT has changed!
Tony, your comment is ageist, presumptuous and offensive.
Agree, But you can’t say that on this site because some people get offended and you get accused of ageism, ain’t that right ‘ Ping Pong ‘ ?
100% agree
IE, Why bother having a comments page if you only post 50% of comments ?
As you exit the community club you cannot see clearly because of the walls either side of the exit. You have to move out to see clearly. These walls are protected and cannot be taken down.
All assume the car driver was at fault. I have been hit by a bus trying to fit through an impossible gap whilst I was stationary. Rather than the bud wait 2 minutes for the obstacle on his side of the road clear, he didn’t and damaged my car in the process. Who knows who is at fault from the article but it may of been the bus driver?!
If it was, he must be pretty old and coming up for retirement…….imo.
How, or why is it so difficult to use your eyes whilst driving? If you can’t see a bright green double decker bus, you quite simply shouldn’t be on the road! Driving standards on the Isle of Wight are shockingly poor. Added to that, the roads are far too congested over there, the infrastructure is inadequate for the amount of people that live there today. Throw summer tourist season into the mix – chaos usually ensues! I was living on the island for a few years, but returning to the mainland recently was the best thing I ever did, in my opinion!
i would have struggled to see a double decker bus coming right towards me as well. ffs
