Fire crews from Ryde and Newport have responded to a residential address in Newport this afternoon (Wednesday) after receiving reports of smoke issuing from the property.
2 appliances were mobilised to Forest Road at around 14:15 when a postman spotted the developing situation.
The first crew on scene, Newport Wholetime, quickly dealt with the incident before the arrival of Ryde’s day crewed appliance.
It’s been confirmed that the smoke was caused by food left on the stove.
Positive pressure ventilation has been used to clear smoke from the property and a saucepan has been removed from the building.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has now stood down from the incident.

Well done to the postman for raising the alarm…
