BRITISH NEWSPAPER ARCHIVE NOW AVAILABLE AT LOCAL LIBRARIES AND RECORD OFFICE

Isle of Wight Council libraries and the Record Office now have a subscription to The British Newspaper Archive, providing FREE access to millions of digitised newspaper pages dating from the 1700s. The library service and Record Office already provide free access to genealogy website Find My Past. This allows their users to research and discover their family history through birth, marriage and death records, military, travel, and immigration records and the censuses including the recently released 1921 census. Now, with the addition of The British Newspaper Archive to the subscription, people can also access millions of newspaper articles to help with their research and uncover the stories and secrets of the past. Anyone wishing to find out more or make use of these subscriptions can contact their local library or the Record Office, where staff will be happy to tell them more and show them how to start exploring the archives. Library customers can use the free public network computers or bring their own device and use the Wi-Fi. At the Record Office, users will need to bring their own devices. The library service also offers free, one-to-one sessions to help you start researching your family history.
