BEMBRIDGE LIFEBOAT LAUNCHED TO MEDIVAC INDIVIDUAL FROM LARGE CARGO SHIP

Bembridge RNLI lifeboat is evacuating an injured crew member from a large roll on-roll off cargo ship that is at anchor off Sandown Bay this morning (Monday).

The All Weather Lifeboat was tasked to launch by Solent Coastguard at around 09:40 following reports from the vessel ‘Eddystone’ that a crew member had been injured in an accident overnight and needed hospital treatment.

Volunteers on board the Tamar-class lifeboat arrived on scene at around 10:00 and have worked swiftly to transfer the patient from the 193m cargo ship to the much smaller 16m lifeboat.
