Bembridge RNLI’s All Weather Lifeboat launched to medivac a crew member from the Clipper Ventures yacht ‘CV22’ late last night (Sunday).
‘Alfred Albert Williams’ hit the water at 23:20 following a request from Solent Coastguard to aid a male crew member on the 70ft training yacht some 7.5 nms South East of Bembridge.
It did not take long for Bembridge Lifeboat to reach CV22 and 2 crew members were swiftly transferred across to the yacht to assess the casualty.
Following an assessment, the casualty and 2 crew members were subsequently picked back up by the Tamar class Lifeboat which headed back to Bembridge.
An Isle of Wight Ambulance Service crew awaited the arrival of the lifeboat. The paramedics then conveyed the casualty to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport for a check up.
Bembridge Lifeboat was fully recovered on station by 00:45.
