Heinz products have been dropped from the shelves of all 4,000 Tesco stores – including here on the Isle of Wight after a pricing dispute with parent company Kraft.
Popular household staples such as baked beans, tomato ketchup and a variety of soups will no longer be seen on the shelves of the UK’s biggest supermarket.
Kraft Heinz, which owns the brand, said its production costs were rising but it was working with Tesco to resolve the situation quickly, whilst a spokesman said the pricing issue was down to “today’s challenging economic environment – with commodity and production costs rising”.
There are currently 5 Tesco Stores on the Island; Tesco Extra in Ryde, Tesco in Freshwater and 3 Tesco Express stores in Lake, Wootton and Ventnor respectively- all of which will now not stock any of the cupboard favourites.
A spokesperson for Tesco said:
“With household budgets under increasing pressure, now more than ever we have a responsibility to ensure customers get the best possible value, and we will not pass on unjustifiable price increases to our customers.”
“We’re sorry that this means some products aren’t available right now, we hope to have this issue resolved soon.”

Do people really think that anybody is bothered that Tesco’s is not selling Heinz products.
I have a sneaking feeling we have all got something more important to worry about
Don’t purchase Heinz baked beans, such a con and waste of money, usually hard and watery, many own brands are better and less than 1/2 price. Kraft just making excuses. Like Mcvities pushing there prices up, End of branded food is coming ! serves them right for being so greedy.
Total bs from Tesco. As if they haven’t been making unjustifiable price increases for months.
I only buy heinz beans/ketchup ..so I won’t bother with tesco for the rest of the weekly shop now, until they put heinz back on the shelves.
Who really cares. I think we have more important things to think about
Good for Tesco ,in this particular time at least they are making sure that the manufactures are not charging over the odds for their staple products
If they feel so responsible about Heinz raising prices why have they increased their prices across the store, and not just a little?
The more important question is why are they removing tills from their stores?
Heinze beans are nothing like they were when I was a child, the can is about one third empty and taste a lot less than they once did.
They taste bland, I now buy Branson beans, and they have lots more flavour and are cheaper..
Having said this I don’t shop at Tescos anyway..
Prefer asda baked beans , best I’ve ever had .
Why is Tesco petrol in Ryde more expensive than supermarkets in Newport ? Could it be that they’re taking advantage of the fact they’re the only supermarket this side of island?? As for them saying they’re concerned about their customers ,try lowering your food prices then ,there’s no way every single product have gone up at least 30p.
Presumably there is now a shortage of strawberries. Tesco’s own strawberry jam up from 27p to 90p. But they wouldn’t make unjustifiable price increases would they?
I see tesco have also taken away a lot of their basic range products, that really helps struggling families doesn’t it tesco, don’t worry I’ll shop elsewhere, I’m not paying your through the roof prices.
Supermarkets already direct people to specific products all the time (even though customers don’t always know it). I don’t believe what they say. The price of some soup brands have gone through the roof recently, and they haven’t had an issue with them.
A story that’s blowing in the “WIND”
My advice, if you want Heinz then you don’t have to go to Tesco, and if you have to go to Tesco, there is actually nothing wrong with their own brand products.
It’s because heinz wont take the production cost hit themselves, and are passing on that cost, cutting tescos profit margin, its big business. Not Tescos caring for their customers, as they certainly do not!
