Sandown’s streets were packed last night (Wednesday) for one of the town’s best-attended illuminated carnival parades in memory, with organisers hailing a fantastic evening.
The illuminated procession set off from Sandown Library at 20:30 before making its way around the town and eventually finishing back at the library.
The procession travelled along roads including Beachfield Road, Royal Crescent, Melville Street, Fitzroy Street, Station Avenue and Albert Road as it made its way through Sandown.
Following the event, Sandown Carnival organisers said:
“Thankfully, the weather held, and the atmosphere around Sandown was simply electric.“A huge THANK YOU to every single person who came along, took part, dressed up, decorated a float, drove their tractor, danced, performed, marched or simply helped create the spectacular sight that filled our streets. You put on an incredible show, and Sandown should be so proud of you!
“Behind the scenes, there is another incredible group of people who deserve a massive thank you — our amazing voluntary committee
“Between us, we give hundreds, if not thousands, of hours every year to organise and deliver these events for our community. There are countless meetings, emails, phone calls, plans, preparations and jobs that nobody sees, but which all come together to create the moments that everybody gets to enjoy.”
