The hosepipe ban that has been in place across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight since 5th August looks to be lifted after nearly 3 months.
Following a record low in rainfall in the early part of 2022, Southern Water introduced the ban, on the first week of August, amid soaring temperatures.
During the temporary use ban (TUB) Islanders were restricted from using hosepipes to water their plants and clean their cars, fill up paddling pools and clean their windows.
However, it is now believed that those restrictions will be lifted as of tomorrow (Friday).
The lifting of the ban comes after the Island has been subject to torrential rain during the last week. The drought warning will still remain in place though.

Thank goodness, my lawn is looking a little brown, least what I can see of it under three inches of water.
Southern Water well done … luckily the weeks of heavy rain and floods convinced me weeks ago to ignore you .. but keep on pumping (accidentally) sewage into the rivers and the Solent .
Thank goodness, I have been so worried sine that one hot summers day three months ago. I thought we were all going to die! I can use a hosepipe again
And we can get our paddling pools out and wash the car. Still, unless there is another heatwave next year, we should have enough water to last.
If Southern Water collected all the water which streams out from the cliff on the Undercliff, there wouldn’t need to be hose pipe bans and it would stabilise the undercliff to boot.
