56-year-old Lorna Headington has been disqualified from driving for 25 months after crashing into 2 vehicles on a private driveway whilst 3 times the drink-drive limit.
Headington, of Benett Street in Ryde, was behind the wheel of her Honda Jazz when she ploughed into a VW Caddy and a Ford Kuga at an address on Playstreet Lane, Ryde on 18th June, as previously reported by Island Echo.
The Isle of Wight Magistrates Court heard today (Tuesday) how the employed carer was driving along Corbett Road onto Playstreet Lane when she lost control, ploughing into 2 vehicles on a residential driveway. Police were called to the scene and found Headington in the driver’s seat.
2 fire crews, several paramedics and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance were all mobilised to the scene of the collision.
It was initially unclear why the 56-year-old had crashed but she soon admitted to drinking earlier in the day when Police requested a breathalyser sample. She blew 121 at the roadside.
Lorna was taken to hospital but later cleared of any injury by doctors. She was then taken to Newport Police Station where she blew 102 on the evidential breathalyser.
Defending, Mr James Cameron told the court that the death of Headington’s mother just 18 days prior to the offence was a contributing factor as to why his client had decided to drink that day. In addition, issues with funeral arrangements and a falling out with her sister led to Lorna taking to consuming alcohol to cope.
The Guide Dog charity volunteer said she is ashamed of what occurred and is sorry for her actions. A guilty plea was entered.
Magistrates handed down a 25-month disqualification and made Lorna Headington subject to a 12-month community order with 80 hours of unpaid work. She was ordered to pay costs of £85 with a £95 surcharge.

When I first heard this news article, I thought it was her home address. How could she have possibly driven into someone else’s driveway and caused so much chaos? But she did! Sorry for the home owner.
she must have been absolutely hammered to have done this.
35mg is the legal drink drive limit she blew 101mg so theres a clue of how hammered she was and probably not the first time she was drunk driving just the first time caught like most drink drivers.
Oh dear! Maybe she should take penalties, quite a feat to go through those gates without hitting the
posts.Seriously though. Time to put the bottles in the recycling, drink coffee.Good job it wasn’t people in the driveway
