Those seeking contemporary architecture in a landscaped lake setting near the coast should be truly excited at the prospect of the Isle of Wight’s Haddon Lake House – which has just thrust onto the market for a whopping £1,950,000.
The home marries design-focussed modernity, with its sanctuary landscape of lake, woods and walled garden – once memorably described in print as a ‘miniature Lost Garden of Heligan in a magical seaside setting’.
Haddon Lake House brings seclusion amongst 2 acres of restored and designed gardens thriving from the benign Undercliff microclimate of St Lawrence near the resort town of Ventnor on the south coast of the Isle of Wight.
The property was recently filmed for the Channel 4 architecture programme ‘George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces’.
The house and separate guest cottage combine lifestyle with privacy, offering ample leisure spaces within the gardens for entertaining, plus easy access nearby to a secluded natural coastline.
Designed to look out over the impressive lake, the house itself spectacularly unites architecture with the landscape by appearing to float on the water. Both garden and house have been widely featured in national and international media, winning awards for architecture, green credentials and historic landscape restoration.
James Attrill, partner with rural agents BCM said:
“Haddon Lake House is impressive at every level – a great house in its own right, with a magical garden setting amongst the exclusive Old Park area of the Undercliff. The south coast of the Island is an undiscovered gem with quiet beaches, an amazing microclimate and some of the best restaurants. We anticipate strong interest”

A beautiful home, and lets hope it is bought by honest earnt money and deserving people.
And doesn’t end up in the sea, or subsiding, like so many other properties in that area!
I bet it won’t be bought by an islander.
Yes. I believe it was bought by somone from pan estate.
At that price il take 2 of them please (I wish)
Undiscovered? Not really. Best restaurants in Niton? Name them!
Yet another modern eyesore. Built by non-locals so that even more can have a third, fourth, or fifth home for hollibobs. Whole system disgusts me when actual Island people can barely afford council tax.
Even in the United States of America it has gotten so that even if you get your home paid off, you can end up loosing it to rising property taxes. Didn’t we fight a war over being over taxed by greedy kings?
