VIDEO APPEAL FOR WITNESSES AFTER 2 LEFT WITH SERIOUS INJURIES


Police are appealing for any witnesses to yesterday’s crash in Whippingham, in which 2 people were seriously injured, to come forward.

As previously reported by Island Echo, 3 vehicles were involved in a head-on collision on the main East Cowes to Newport road at just gone 18:00.

A 55-year-old woman from East Cowes was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. She was freed from the wreckage of her car by fire crews.

A 25-year-old man from Sandown was taken to St Mary’s Hospital by land ambulance.

The road remained closed for over 4 hours last night whilst the heavily-damaged vehicles were recovered from the scene.
