The Isle of Wight Ladies 1XI travelled away to face Waterside 1XI at the weekend, starting strong to quickly find themselves 1-0 up within the first few minutes thanks to Sophie Parkhouse.
They continued to apply the pressure and found themselves 2-0 up, following a short corner which was saved by the Waterside keeper but rebounded in by Evie Fairhurst.
Waterside managed to pull a goal back just before half time.
Following some motivational halftime words, the Island came out hungry for more goals. Jaimie Payne smashed a shot straight through the keeper’s legs from a short corner. Georgia Whittle then cooly slotted the ball home after some one-two passing to make it 5-1.
A driving run by Parkhouse into Waterside’s D, and her low hit skidded along the baseline. The ball danced agonisingly on target before Katy Ednay rushed in to tap it over the goal line, securing the Isle of Wight’s fifth and final goal.

Back at Smallbrook, the Ladies 2XI faced Haslemere 4XI in the first home fixture of the day. Despite goals from Megan Bridger and Siena Holbrook the Island were unfortunate and lost 4-2.
Up next was the Mens 1XI who gave youngsters Cian Smallwood-Butler and Kit McChesney their first team debuts against a strong Portsmouth 2XI side.
Despite a rare goal from Joe Arnold and the best efforts of keeper Steph Boyd and his defence, the Island were beaten 5-1.
