The Met Office has issued an amber ‘Be Prepared’ weather warning for high winds overnight tonight (Saturday) into Sunday morning, alongside a yellow weather warning for heavy rain as Storm Angus approaches the South.
The first storm of the winter season is expected to bring some very strong winds to the South Coast for a time on Sunday morning, when gusts of 85 mph are possible from the Isle of Wight eastwards. The amber warning is in force from 02:00 tomorrow morning (Sunday) until 11:00.
In addition to the amber warning, a yellow weather warning for rain has also been issued. A spell of heavy rain is expected to sweep across the South throughout tonight and into Sunday morning. The warning is in force from 00:05 until 15:00 21:00 tonight until 14:00 tomorrow.
Islanders should be prepared for disruption to travel services, interruptions to power supplies and some damage to buildings, as well as the risk of difficult driving conditions due to localised surface water flooding and possible debris from trees.
