Aldi is raising pay for store colleagues for the 2nd time this year, extending its position as the Isle of Wight’s best-paying supermarket. Aldi Store Assistants and Deputy Store Managers on the Isle of Wight are set to receive a pay rise of 40p an hour from 1st June, as part of the supermarket’s announcement of its latest investment in its store colleagues across the UK. The investment marks the supermarket’s latest commitment to its people, after becoming the first supermarket to pay the Isle of Wight’s store and warehouse colleagues at least £12.00 an hour in February. The new pay increases will see the hourly rate of Store Assistants and Deputy Store Managers on the Isle of Wight rise from £12.00 to £12.40. Aldi also remains the only supermarket to offer paid breaks, which for the average store colleague is worth more than £900 a year. The latest increase takes Aldi’s investment in pay so far this year to £79million. It is also planning to create 5,500 new jobs in the UK this year. Giles Hurley, Chief Executive Officer of Aldi UK and Ireland, said:
“We firmly believe that our colleagues are the best in the business, so it is only right that they remain the best-paid and we are committed to never being beaten on pay by any other supermarket. “Our Store Operations colleagues play an integral part in our ever-increasing popularity among shoppers and our continued investment in their pay is another way to thank them for the role they play in making Aldi what it is today.”

What a joke I work at Sainsbury’s and they pay us 12 a hour
But it says they’ll now get £12.40….
I only get out off bed for 20 pound hour so yea not even worth it
Who pays you just to get out of bed? Sounds like an easy job. Where do I sign up?
Do what builders do, accept cash payments from their customers
and them don’t declare it.
Lol
You will never see a poor builder
Nobody has commented that Store Assistants and Deputy Store Managers get paid the same rate. What is the incentive to be a Deputy Store Manager and what do managers get paid?
I know you Your the bloke who burps and farts when your working It’s so hilarious keep up the good work Darren
Burp burp and burp
Me and Rimmer used work together years ago on night shift
Keep that to yourselves nobody what’s to know about you and his Rimmer
Excellent news and very clever. It will also help drive their profits from those who wish to shop with ethical concerns. I’ve never been to Aldi…maybe we should all get behind them and thus encourage other supermarkets to pay their staff properly.
Hardly “very clever”. Aldi has the lowest prices because it sells the worst quality products. You get what you pay for.
Never, ever shop Aldi again not after the horrible experience of a few months ago when basically a member of their staff ‘assumed’ mother of all f’ck ups that my wife had something to hide in her handbag. The staff now ask paying customers if they’ve stolen anything!! Aldi, Sorry goes along way and train your staff properly.
There is nothing worth stealing in Aldi!
That’s ridiculous my husband works for a double glazing firm ( a skilled trade) and doesn’t even get £12 an hour and he has been there for more than 20 years
He needs to ask why then. £11.44 is national living wage.
They all are the same. The window trade on the isle of wight all pay disgusting wages. My nephew works for one and he said only office staff get looked after. It’s a skilled trade let’s see if the companies give there skilled workers a decent pay rise in April if not then they all might aswell work for dpd
Fran you are correct the companies are disgusting with there pay for this skilled trade. Maybe they should all go to dpd to work I bet it’s better pay. There is also a window company next to dpd I wonder if they pay their staff disgustingly low wages like the rest? Let’s hope someone who works there or knows someone there will comment
Why would anyone discus their wages with a stranger? If people aren’t happy with their jobs or rates of pay, there’s always an option of finding another job.
Your husband a mug then if joe blogggs can stack shelf’s for 12 hour
Aldi don’t half like to blow their own trumpet, I hear nothing but complaints about them, and not all their prices are that good as now most supermarkets are playing them at their own game and are selling the same products at the same price or cheaper!
We firmly believe that our colleagues are the best in the business.
They are the most rude staff I’ve come across…..
£12 for the Island is a good rate of pay.
