Ryde’s AJ’s Diner – an American-style restaurant that was handed a 1-star hygiene rating earlier this year – has closed permanently. Located in Victoria Arcade off Union Street, the establishment took to social media to announce its immediate closure earlier this month (18th May). It was back in April that the Ryde-based eatery was handed a 1-star hygiene rating following a visit from the Isle of Wight Council’s Environmental Health Team. This was the 2nd 1-star rating hygiene that the eatery had received in as many years. During the most recent inspection – as previously reported by Island Echo – inspectors found no fewer than 8 serious faults. Taking to their Facebook page, an AJ’s Diner spokesperson has said:
“We would like to thank everyone for your custom, loyalty and interest over the last 6 years.”
