The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has airlifted a seriously ill patient from Ventnor to Southampton General Hospital this evening (Wednesday).
Ambulances and a co-responder from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were called to an address in Ventnor sometime around 18:30, with the air ambulance scrambled from its base in Andover.
The patient – a young male – is understood to have received life-saving treatment and has now been flown from the helicopter landing site at Ventnor Rugby Club directly to Southampton General Hospital.
The green and yellow helicopter touched down off Whitwell Road at around 19:00 and spent an hour on the ground.
