The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has landed at Simeon Street Recreation Ground in Ryde this morning (Wednesday) in response to a medical emergency in the town.
Paramedics and an operational commander from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service initially responded to the medical situation in the vicinity of Ryde Esplanade at just gone 10:00.
Now, flying doctors have touched down in the rec to rendezvous with local paramedics to provide assistance to the poorly patient.
A decision will be made on the best source of action to take and whether the individual needs to be airlifted to a mainland hospital.
UPDATE @ 11:41 – The air ambulance has conveyed the patient – who is thought to be suffering from a cardiac complaint – directly to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth.
Local paramedics are standing down.
Hope the casualty is OK.
Thank goodness for the Air Ambulance.
Indeed. And it’s high time the Government paid for air ambulances rather than them having to rely on charitable donations!
Thats great news well done all involved …But what a good job the helicopter could land in Simeon Rec and it was`nt filled up with parked cars …
Exactly! When the Rec debate was going on I asked where would the air ambulance land – I didn’t get a reply. Great job by all involved
