The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has landed at Red Funnel’s ferry terminal in East Cowes this morning (Sunday).
Life-saving doctors on board the yellow and green helicopter have touched down beside the River Medina at the request of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
The helicopter landed in the cleared marshalling yard moments before 11:30.
UPDATE @ 13:00 – It has been confirmed that although the air ambulance was called to the scene, the specialist skills of the HEMS term were not required in the end.
The air ambulance was on the ground for only a matter of minutes before returning to base at Andover.
UPDATE @ 20:25 – Sadly, it is understood that the patient – a woman from Newport – could not be saved and she died at the scene.
Members of John’s Club and People Matter IW have paid tribute to the lady – who Island Echo are not naming – this evening.

Sadly she didnt make it.
