Yarmouth RNLI lifeboat has escorted a 32ft yacht into harbour this evening (Thursday).
The All Weather Lifeboat was tasked by Solent Coastguard at around 17:45 to reports of a vessel having broken down near The Shingles in the Western Solent.
It didn’t take long for the lifeboat to reach the stricken yacht – with 2 persons on board.
The lifeboat coxswain decided to escort the 32ft vessel into Yarmouth Harbour where The Needles Coastguard Rescue Team were on hand to assist.
The incident was quickly concluded by 19:10.
At 19:27, the lifeboat was tasked again to another incident.

Lots of problems on our waters lately, I expect it will quickly quiet down at the end of the summer…
RNLI to the rescue, volunteers that do a splendid job being there for us in our of need. We are an island let’s remember to pop a £1 in their charity box to help keep them looking after us at sea.
Maybe everyone out on these luxurious yachts should start paying an insurance, then everything the RNLI get called out your insurance foots the bill.why should the general public put hands in there pockets to help persons usually through human error or inexperience. If your boat breaks down you would be insured to cover toe in cost. Problem solved.
Jenny Ahi why should we “pop a £1 in their charity box? Why are our valuable resources being used and our lifeboat personnel’s lives being risked for people messing about on the water in their yachts and boats? They’re usually unqualified, inexperienced, tiddly and messing around in a busy shipping lane with little or no navigational equipment. Long past due, they should all pay liability insurance and have a pilot, captain, driver, competency test the same as everyone else has to do when you take charge of a motorised vehicle. Most of ithem are a liability.
How does a yacht break down it has sails. If you can’t handle it don’t use it. Go and get a yacht master ticket and learn to sail. And do your nav. And if you no what mipdanio means, well done.
