2 men and a woman have been pulled from the River Medina at Whippingham this evening (Sunday) after capsizing a small boat close to a pontoon.
Bembridge and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Teams were called into action shortly before 20:00 following reports that the trio had entered the water and were being rescued by Cowes Harbour Master.
Thankfully, the 3 casualties have escaped any injury. They’ve been checked over and given the all clear by the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service, who dispatched an ambulance and officer to the scene at Folly Lane, near East Cowes.
The incident is not thought to be related to the Isle of Wight Festival, which is taking place further down the river at Seaclose Park.
Emergency teams have stood down from the incident. Both Coastguard Rescue Teams are continuing on a patrol of the Newport area in the interests of public safety this festival weekend.
