Yarmouth Bridge is to be closed over 2 days this week for maintenance work including repairs to the structure’s main deck.
The bridge will be closed to traffic from 09:30 tomorrow (Tuesday) until 15:30 (or sooner if possible) on Wednesday (13th September).
Throughout the works the bridge will remain open to pedestrians and will be open at 10:00 and after 16:30 for river users – at the discretion of Yarmouth Harbour Commission.
The usual road diversion via Wilmingham Lane and The Middle Road will be in place.

“We have scheduled the work for outside of the peak summer season and while the closure is absolutely necessary, we would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience and to thank residents for their understanding.”
UPDATE ON WEDNESDAY @ 19:00 – Island Roads now say that the bridge will not re-open until further notice. They will be reviewing the situation tomorrow morning (Thursday 14th September).

Time for a 20mph or less speed limit on this bridge. It is frightening be be walking on the very narrow footway with a wide HGV hurtling towards you just inches from your elbow… the whole structure shakes (as well as my knees)…
Buy a car then you wimp! We need to speed this island up not down!
