Thousands of properties in the Arreton, Apse Heath, Godshill and Newchurch areas are without power this afternoon (Monday) as a result of a major power cut.
Supplies were lost at 14:44 with the outage far reaching from Lake in the east to Down End in the west, and as far south as Godshill.
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks are aware of the issue and and currently expect power to be restored by 18:00.

It comes just 2 days after a power cut hit the same area as a result of a fire field at Bathingbourne.

UPDATE @ 16:39 – Just 5 postcodes in the Winford area remain without power this afternoon; PO36 0LX, PO36 0LY, PO36 0LZ,PO36 0NA and PO36 0NB.
It’s now estimated that power will be restored by 19:00.

Is it a test to see what happens when everyone gets cut off for non payment of bills when the increases hit? On a serious note – I’m getting truly worried by the news day in, day out saying how much bills will rise and that folk won’t be able to pay. So what will happen? Surely everyone won’t be able to be cut off for non payment/debt? What will happen? Advice/thoughts most welcome please.
Bansko, well my thoughts are the growing masses of those who have children yet only work, IF at all, for a few hours, and thus are eligible for all, or most of their rent to be paid, and their council tax to, and have £20 per child in child allowance per week, and have £100+ per child in child tax and working tax credit, COULD manage easily, as their income v expenses are far greater than many full time working people who are not claiming tax credits or Universal credits.
They though are also given the most in fuel payments, and as soon a you are on tax credits, you can then claim for free boilers, home insulation, free meals etc

If the wasters in society didn’t have to all pretend they are mini celebs, having their nails a foot long and painted up, having to wear designer clothing to shop in Lidel’s, didn’t have to have a spray tan over their daylight avoiding bodies, and if perhaps they suddently discovered where the cooker and sink was to prepare home cooked meals, rather than phone a takeway, or dine out, then they to could heat their state funded subsidised rental home.
That or do as people did pre the 70’s, heat one room, wear thicker jumpers in the rest of the house.
They know the price of everything and the value of nothing.
