Isle of Wight charity Ability Dogs 4 Young People urgently require Islanders to help raise 12 puppies in 2022.
Ability Dogs 4 Young People IOW trains, supplies and supports ability dogs for youngsters with mental and physical disabilities. The charity needs to expand its team of Puppy Parents so that they can help more young people with disabilities such as epilepsy, anxiety, autism, diabetes and cerebral palsy.
Puppy parenting gives households the joy of love and loyal companionship without the tie of a lifetime of ownership. It costs only time, love and affection. There is no financial burden as the charity pays for food, equipment, vet bills and insurance.
If Puppy Parents are taking a holiday, have a work/family travel commitment, are in hospital or poorly, then their dog is fostered by an Ability Dog Foster Parent.
Being a Puppy Parent is a great way to get more active, stay fit and see our beautiful Island.
Puppy parent Nicola says:
“Ability Dogs for Young People has allowed us to have a family dog when our circumstances wouldn’t. We became Puppy Parents
to help change a young person’s life and, as dogs do, they changed our lives along the way too.”
Melissa says:
“I will never be a dog owner again because being a Puppy Parent is so much more rewarding. Puppy parenting gives me all of the benefits of having a dog, whilst removing every barrier. I get to have a beautiful Labrador pup in my family without the financial and life constraints. It is educational, fulfilling, fun, and I feel happy because I am part of an amazing team that makes a huge difference to so many Island families.”
