The Isle of Wight College is opening its doors to prospective students and their families with tours, tasters and exciting updates on Saturday (25th November). Both the Whippingham campus for engineering (CECAMM) and main campus in Newport will be open between 10:00-14:00. The Open Day is an opportunity for visitors to tour the college campus, talk to existing students, find out about the T Level post 16 option, and get involved with various interactive activities around the site, including the Tech Truck. A key focus on this day for school leavers will be on the T Levels qualifications which are being delivered by the college. T Levels launched exclusively on the Isle of Wight at the Isle of Wight College in 2022 and since have seen excellent achievement and progression for students. T Levels boast 80% classroom work and 20% real work and are equivalent to 3 A Levels which means that on completion students can move on to university, start an apprenticeship or move straight into the workplace. For 2024, T Levels will be offered in:
- Engineering
- Computing
- Health
- Childcare
- Plumbing & Gas
- Business
The open day is not only for students leaving school though, there will also be opportunities to find out more about apprenticeships, distance learning, adult learning, short courses and employer training, international opportunities and University Centre Isle of Wight. Prospective students can also find out about the range of bursaries and financial assistance available as well as the college’s vast range of enrichment such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, subsidised international travel and use of on-site facilities such as the salons and college gym. A welcome presentation will be given by Ros Parker OBE, the College’s Prinipal, at 10:45, 11:30, 12:15 and 13:00. Doors close at 14:00.
