The Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance has airlifted a young child to Southampton General Hospital following an accident involving a scooter in Shanklin tonight (Saturday).
Medics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were called to the incident on Alexandra Road shortly before 21:15, with the Air Ambulance soon scrambled to the scene.
The helicopter touched down at the local cricket ground at around 21:30.
Island Echo understands the boy came off his non-electrical scooter and has sustained facial injuries as a result.
He is now being flown to the mainland to be treated by specialist doctors at Southampton General Hospital.
I really really hope he gets the help he needs and also to hope that he is better soon

How are they expected to know the severity till they get there, also there might have been two cars close to that area when the call went out.
Two cars in the same area? Amazing that there would be two cars on duty on the whole Island.

It was outside the house the whole family was there. The kids were just enjoying there night. It happened way before this post was posted.

Makes me wonder why they have safety gear available, helmets, gloves chin straps knee and shoulder guards… but being so hot out…
Scooters are dangerous, no safety equipment is being worn by these fools.

Machines you say!! This was a NON-ELECTRICAL SCOOTER which would be freely purchased from any toy shop. Children are allowed to have fun and I’m sure right up to the point of his accident he was having a fab time. Speedy recovery young man.
That ‘fool’ you are talking about is my 13year old brother who was enjoying his night with friends and family on a NON ELECTRIC SCOOTER. It was an unfortunate accident. Your the type of nob to moan about kids using technology to much these days but still the type of nob to moan when they are out playing and doing what kids should do.
