A van driver has found themselves in a spot on bother on a popular Isle of Wight beach this afternoon (Sunday) as a result of the vehicle becoming stuck in the sand on an incoming tide.
It’s thought that the dropside van was either launching or recovering a personal watercraft at Shanklin Esplanade when it became stuck fast in the sand.
Now, the vehicle faces being a complete write-off as the tide has turned and the water has surrounded the van.
Efforts to tow the van to safety using a Vauxhall Combi have failed with a larger, more suited vehicle now called in.
The situation is unfolding on isleofwight.com’s Shanklin webcam…

There will never be a cure for stupid.
I am surprised they are not doing Jabs for stupidity.
Can’t park there mate
just another island driver
Yo core pork there mate, but this is a cul-de-sac, I don’t care if its a caddy lack, yo core pork there…..more idiots will be along soon…
Let’s hope the idiots hurry up, because you need the company!
All those Chelsea tractors parked along sea front, but know one offered to help, sure one or a couple could of pulled out before tide got it, guess most don’t know what a 4×4 is for?.
They’re for taking the kids to school aren’t they?
Why didn’t they just call staglane still cheaper than new van
Bet it’s island roads
Cant be, if it was the roads would have a closed ahead signs up, traffic lights and diversion signs that take you knowhere, now thats island roads for you.
That will be an expensive afternoon, hope they are not late for work tomorrow!
I blame the Audi driver
Jet-ski owner suffers total write-off? What a shame!
hahaha, one less jet ski to annoy everyone, should be banned from the bay.
The island morons never cease to suprise me on thinking up different ways of entertaining us.
Typical Caulkhead driver
Probably not even from the island. Probably a overner
Island roads at it again
I’m surprised with all the Brains at Island Roads,
they have not tried to Tarmac the Beach
Hahahahahaja I like that
Island Roads are so stupid I am surprised they don’t arrive on site without their
vehicle.
Lol good one Think island roads don’t exist anymore don’t see any roads being done must of spent all the money
I think it’s terrible. I can’t believe the lengths people go to, to avoid paying for parking.
Ha ha ha ha !! Now all that salt water will definitely NOT be good for the vehicle…!!
Hilarious, another one will along soon
A classic case of someone having more money than sense.
Probably there picking up immigrants
Bet it still gets a ticket
So many I D I O T S on the Island
keep your commets to ur self lad
theres the moment you know you’ve f’d up your first day xD
more to the point why the hell did they drive it on the beach to recover a water craft know it would likely be damp.
Better than the vans that park on Pavements on the Island
Maybe he was trying to drive to the mainland rather than paying the extorninate Ferry Fares.
Lol
Extreme fishing………
There is no watercrat in the photo? Maybe they was loading up with sand or stones? And if they was with a watercraft then winch it in with common sense
Quite a crowd of onlookers it attracted too, must of been in excess of over 100 people there. Me and the dog just casually breezed by both thinking, these gawping fools need to get out more.
How awful for owner, bet they are kicking themselves now.
“No Dave, that’s not what I meant when I said ‘Dip the headlights”
“Boy where you been all your life?
That there’s one of them new car boats”
Probably trying out his new jet ski purchase after stinging someone for a cash in hand job. Bet he doesn’t declare his earnings with HMRC.
