A yellow weather warning has been issued for the Isle of Wight with forecasters warning of torrential downpours with a risk of hail and thunder mixed in.
IW Met Service say that throughout tonight – Thursday into Friday – the Island is likely to see adverse weather, which could lead to localised flash flooding.
Rainfall totals will be highly variable with some places only seeing 2-3mm worth of rain, but other places seeing closer to 15 or even 20mm falling.
Lightning, although infrequent, will be an additional hazard in some of the showers, as well as some very strong wind gusts (up to 60mph) in and around the heaviest of the downpours.
The warning is in force from 22:00 tonight until 23:00 on Friday.
