2 yachts were damaged in Newtown Creek when a squall passed through during the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).
Yarmouth RNLI’s All Weather Lifeboat was tasked to launch by Solent Coastguard at 00:35 when reports were received that an anchored vessel had become caught up in another vessel.
With thunder, lightning and heavy rain lashing down, the volunteers of Yarmouth RNLI launched the Severn-class lifeboat and made best speed eastwards.
The 2 vessels were successfully separate before being escorted to the safety of Yarmouth Harbour, where The Needles Coastguard Rescue Team were waiting to rendezvous with the casualty vessels.
Those onboard the vessels were uninjured.
The incident was brought to a close by 03:45.
