A damaged slipway at Brambles Chine has finally been demolished almost exactly 1 year after it was originally closed.
It was back in February last year that the slipway down to the beach in the West Wight had to be closed after it became structurally unsound and unsafe for the public to walk on.
Whilst the slipway was closed the nearest access point for anyone using the beach at Colwell, was from Seaview Road or Colwell Chine Road.
It is believed that the works have been delayed because the tide and weather needed to be right in order to access the coastal area, but diggers were seen on the site for the first time on Tuesday (21st February).
The slipway will be replaced by steps but no time frame on when they will be completed has been given.

Steps? What about the disabled? Or aren’t they allowed on the beach?
