A 43-year-old woman who badly injured her hip in a fall on the rocky shore between Thorness and Gurnard became the subject of a rescue operation late last night (Tuesday).
Cowes RNLI Lifeboat and local Coastguard Rescue Teams were called into action at around 22:30 when Solent Coastguard became aware of the woman’s plight.
The casualty, who had been walking along the coast with her male partner, was in considerable pain but was soon being tended to by Cowes RNLI’s onboard doctor, Dr Will King.
Efforts were made to package the injured woman into a basket stretcher and transfer her onto the Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat.
The lifeboat made a slow and steady trip to Trinity Landing in Cowes, where the casualty was transferred to an awaiting ambulance by Coastguards for onward conveyance to St Mary’s Hospital.
The lifeboat returned to station at midnight, bringing the 90-minute operation to a close.

It’s a bit late to be out walking on rocky terrain, I would’ve thought.
so glad to see she was with her male partner lol
Give her the bill for the costs involved due to her stupidity.
WTF 22.30hrs?? The poor rescuers, called out that late! Some people really don’t think of the consequences??
I think you’ll find that the lady in question, is a front line emergency worker herself, who has worked continuously throughout the pandemic saving countless life’s,, any one can have a accident, so rather than sitting at home commenting on this story. Maybe you should take a hard look at yourself in the mirror, and ask what good you have done for the community lately??? !!!!
Love this guy
Well said. When I read the comments these few same people make on here, I really feel sad for their small minds.
If she is front line worker she should have had more sense wasting emergency services
Why you picking on this girl so much ?
You can’t waste an emergency service if it’s an emergency..
I like the fact that people are so quick to make comments and accusations about the stupidity of the people who need rescuing but anyone can have an accident. And also why should they have to pay the bill when it is the job of the emergency services to help and rescue people, that is after all what they signed up for.
Accidents happen! Well done to the emergency services 🙂
