The residents of a house of multiple occupancy in Newport – including a mum-to-be of 30 weeks – had to evacuate overnight when a fire broke out.
Emergency services were called to Ceasers Road in the town shortly before 00:40 following reports of a property fire.
Island Echo is told that an ‘intoxicated’ resident had a female guest around last night, breaking the lockdown rules put in place by the Government due to coronavirus.
For reasons unknown it is said that the guest set a fire within the property during her visit.
Fire crews from Newport and Cowes were mobilised to the scene alongside the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and Police, with initial reports suggesting 2 people were trapped inside.
The fire was reported to be located in a bedroom on the first floor.
Firefighters used 2 hose reels and 4 breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire.
According to one resident, the property has been left blackened by the smoke and the electric supply has been cut.
The pregnant woman attempting to isolate from risk has had to seek shelter at a family member’s house.
Stupid selfish woman hope she gets locked up for this got to be attempted murder.
I do hope the arsonist gets the full force of the law applied. Attempting to take life is ever so serious. And getting forecrews doing anything other than an accident is despicable.

For years the social reformers have had the idea that the underclass are only the way they are because of their *unfortunate* background and living conditions and if they can be brought into the community of more decent people, they will become decent people too. Sadly it does not seem to work. What happens instead, is that they make life so intolerable for any decent people having to live among them, that those that can then move away, and those that can’t, suffer in silence because the powers that be are nearly always on the side of the underclass.
Remember this when the council spend our council tax of ‘adult social care’, some of these low life are only fit to sleep in the gutter where they cost us little and harm nothing or no one but themselves.
I think you’ll find ‘Adult Social Care’ is primarily elderly and disabled people. I think you mixed it up with Mental Health Services which is the NHS and therefore not locally funded

This care in the community is more expensive than keeping places like Whitecroft open in the long run if this ‘thing’ is mental, not just ‘vile’ and drunk.
Make them do volunteering work for NHS to repay the time and effort of emergency services…..what a 24 carrot plonker they really are.
