A 34-year-old woman from Newport has been arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving following a 2-car crash that occurred in Newport yesterday afternoon (Wednesday).
Officers from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary responded to the scene at around 15:00 after receiving reports of a collision involving 2 cars.
The incident took place on Carisbrooke Road and saw the 34-year-old collide with a stationary vehicle.
A roadside drugs wipe was conducted which returned a positive result for cocaine and cannabis.
The woman was arrested at the scene but has since been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.

More terrible island driving. You are a bunch druggeis
And more terrible Burley spelling! I fail to see why you are so interested in Island news, as you’ve left (whoo hoo!).
Still, you appear to live for the next headline on here involving cars and their drivers. So sad that you have such an empty existence.
Again, not my comment, however, I do agree with you…
Going by your appalling spelling skills, I’d say you’re not faring well on fresh air!
I didn’t write this. I’m being cloned!
Hope the driver is ok
why? self inflicted
Sarcasm is the lowest form of….
being. There We Are Then….nothing Real here..
One wonders what the ‘enquiries’ are, sounds like ‘bang to rights’, Should be stopped from driving with immediate effect.
Samples have to be sent away for analysis I believe.
This Burley driver who is always knocking island drivers should look at the statistics of accidents in the New Forest especially with animals being killed
Why? What’s that got to do with anything? This Island is a disgrace when it comes to drink/drug drivers.
We need to ban all these boy racers from the roads! Nobody under 30 should be allowed on the roads!
We drove by this yesterday as she was being arrested. Two police cars, unmarked police car with blues and a police van at junction of Castle Road and Carisbrooke Road. Looked like a well coordinated effort. She must have been on their radar.
I was behind the unmarked car waiting to get past and saw her go into the back of van right next to me. Should of been watching where she was going not what was going on.
What is it with all the drunks and drug users on the island? It seems that drugs are taken by everyone these days. Are they all really that stupid now?
Yes they are.
Sometimes I have to drive because I am too pi%%ed to walk.Would not like to fall or trip over and injure myself.
If can’t control a vehicle, should have any scratters removed from her care pronto
So much for the cost of living crisis, able to fuel her car and fuel herself. Likely feral benefit recipient. Plenty of fat in the system to still trim off, i say cut benefits further as likely tax payers have funded her joy ride. Loser.
Where do all these hard up Islander get the money for their Drug’s??
