A Newport woman has appeared in court charged with stealing almost £10,000 worth of goods from supermarkets over a 3-month period.
Angela Donna Sullivan, 42, of Brickfield Close in Newport, appeared before the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court today (Tuesday) charged with a total of 25 offences of theft from a shop to the value of £9,911.89, alongside 1 charge of possession of a Class A drug – cocaine.
The court heard how Sullivan is accused of carrying out the thefts from Sainsbury’s and Asda between 24th February and 28th May this year. 24 of the thefts were from Sainsbury’s at Foxes Road, Newport.
The highest value single haul was £608.75 of homeware, BBQ items and foodstuffs on 23rd April. The lowest haul was £53.65 of foodstuffs on 18th March. Items taken over the 3-months are said to have included a hot tub, coffee machines, gardening tools, camping products, lights and foodstuffs.
Mrs Sullivan did not enter any pleas and the case was adjourned to the Crown Court on 26th July 2021.
3 of the 25 theft offences are said to have been committed jointly with 39-year-old Annabel Claire Calvert from Lowertherville Road, Ventnor.
Calvert, a mother-of-2, pleaded guilty to 3 charges of theft from a shop to the value of £1,310.55. Her case was adjourned until 20th July for a pre-sentence report to be compiled for Magistrates.
