Cross-Solent ferry operator Wightlink has cancelled 6 sailings on its Portsmouth – Fishbourne route tomorrow (Friday).
The cancellations are due to the absence of essential crew members and have seen the 06:40, 08:40 and 10:40 from Portsmouth and the 07:40, 09:40, and 11:40 from Fishbourne terminated.
Those booked on those sailings have seen their bookings moved to an alternative crossing, but this may leave many people commuting in the peak morning rush hours in a bit of a pickle.
Wightlink has apologised for the inconvenience caused.

What a suprise Covid everywhere no staff on boats wearing masks no customers wearing masks. Most larger companies suffering with Covid B& Q have an outbreak.
Biggest surprise is ASDA and M&S now have taken down staff protective screens
which is now causing unrest with their staff.. What about looking after your staff.
Unrest with Asda & M&S staff, where the hell do you get your news from the Sun newspaper.
Before you write such drivel get your facts right.
Strangely enough went to St Mary’s hospital yesterday, no Covid questions before going in and no masks being worn in the department I visited. Also extremely hot in the waiting room, no wonder disease spreads so quickly.
Why don’t they just say Covid????
It’s on the rise again….
I know so many who have it , and it’s because everyone has become complacent !!!!
Let’s be honest and say we should all go back to wearing masks sanitising etc ….
If we want a life we can all enjoy do it …
And 2 those who don’t want to wear a mask keep away from those who do !!!
Respect you’re fellow human beings !!!!
If you honestly think that a mask will protect you from a virus then, please, carry on wearing one. But, if you ARE wearing one, why is there a need for other people to wear them around you because, with your way of thinking, the mask is protecting you therefore you have nothing to worry about.
Just for information though, a mask doesn’t stop viruses, it stops bacteria. Viruses are too small to be trapped by a mask, bacteria are larger and that’s why masks are used in hospitals etc to stop bacteria getting into wounds etc.
But, carry on wearing one if that’s what you want. Just don’t expect others to follow your particular life choices.
Not if you get a decent one !!!!!
And I know several people who have it and they are ill coughing , breathing is difficult and other’s suffering long covid ..
Respect other people, and their opinions…
Not a lot to ask is it …..
If you don’t want to wear a mask fine , but Respect those that do , they may have someone vulnerable at home …
An apology is simply not good enough. When are these essential service operators ever going to be fined for their incompetence? It is time they were brought to account.
Is that just an excuse to save on running costs.
how can they STILL going sick! by now the whole staff crew must have had there turn by now .who’s even left ? weirdly this wouldnt gsppen in festival weekend or some event.
disgusting service.
sack all the sicknotes and restart.plenty out there want jobs
Would never have this problem if we had a TUNNEL.. !!!
Boring reply and predictable.
Covid everywhere but are staff/passengers taking any precautions no!!
Masks should be mandatory before the figures get out of control.
The public are like Lemmings.
All boils down to a ferry company with no outlook or contingency plans ,pi** poor show ….again. for a public service if you can call it that
To be able to transfer sailings clearly shows there are many spare spaces on the day. Methinks maybe this is just a way to save fuel fees. Being cashless you can’t buy a sandwich without a card but it’s still okay to force feed BS to customers for free??
It’s just poor management and using it as an excuse to cut out ferries to save money. You’ve had over two years to figure out you’re getting more staff sickness, so why haven’t you forward planned for exactly this. Oh, it’s because you don’t give a s..t,
I wonder if wight link give compensation for shifting your booking, after all they’re quick enough to charge you if you need to change a booking.
