Cross-Solent ferry operator Wightlink has issued a series of cancellations on its Yarmouth – Lymington route tomorrow (Monday).
The ferry company has blamed the cancellation on the absence of a single crew member.
Tomorrow, the 06:15, 08:40, 10:45 and the 13:00 from Lymington and the 07:30, 09:45, 11:45 and the 14:05 from Yarmouth will not operate.
Wightlink apologise for the inconvenience caused.

More lies will be along soon…..sailings not filled will be cancelled….
This is not a little disruption; people rely on these sailings for work etc, this is happening on a very regular basis across all services, as an Island these are essential services, not a luxury service.
Even more to the point you are a Racist!
Oh boo hoo. How will people cope! Lol
You’re obviously not affected lucky you.
Stay cooped up here on your precious island with your small mind.
You’re a perfect match.
What a dumbass comment…. lol

Good things come from small packages…
Suprised your not blaming it on pot heads again
Why would I on this occasion? Were drugs mentioned in the article? No, so read it before voicing your pointless opinion…muppet. lol
One person of sick, what a incompetent way to run a large ferry business, where is the cover and provision in place for absences regardless of their role on the ferry, third world service with sky high prices
The problem is there’s no accountability They can run a service as expensive and unreliable as they like without any consequences.
Exactly so how is this servicing the island .. far from it ..
It doesn’t matter what colour your skin is or how many limbs you have .WE ARE ALL EQUAL. ATTHE END OF THE DAY.
and in the same boat (or not if its been cancelled)
YOUR COMMENTS ARE OUTDATED
Just goes to show how much of a profit making scheme these companies are being allowed to run nowadays. I completely get if a ferry is running with only a few vehicles aboard, they may choose to save a crossing & put more onto another sailing. But how much consideration goes towards their customers. Their reasons for travel aren’t just for holidays. These people have greater needs for the purpose to travel & for a Company not to be able to operate due to the absence of one is shocking. I would have thought the guides they must adhere to state they should always have more than enough staff rostered on. So if one became unwell during a sailing, they are still able to complete the crossing. Shake it up!!
At some stage, you feel that the government – if we had a government – should be getting involved in what is an essential service for some people.
I can’t imagine the situation would be allowed to continue on the mainland if, for example, you lived in Dorset and couldn’t get into a neighbouring county by car, train, bus or even by walking. It would be unthinkable.
If we were somewhere remote, in the Shetlands or someplace, it would be more understandable but here we are not even 90 miles from London and people can’t get to hospital appointments in the next county.
I don’t advocate a bridge, no-one is going to spend billions on that, but the ferry companies should be forced to provide a reliable, fairly priced service.
You are so correct, but it is most unlikely to happen with this government, with the economy and a new PM staring a full-blown recession in the face. The IOW is the least of their concerns. Bob Seely has his hands full with fighting internal issues within his party.
Are they trying to test the publics reaction of there stealth scheme to stop the the Yarmouth to Lymington route, unless it’s full .. don’t operate .. as no other ( apart from the island railway ) company stops when a member of staff does not clock in.. the sickness record of Wightlink must be appalling ? I don’t blame the staff, it’s just a badly managed company .. been going down hill for many years.
This person seems to be off an awful lot of the time. Hopefully HR are looking into his attendance as i am sure Wightlink don’t want to inconvenience people again this year!!
A friend of ours went for a early ferry on Sunday morning only to be told it had been cancelled , they were told to stay at the terminal and get the next ferry and if they left the terminal there be no guarantee they would be able to get on the next ferry .
So they sit there for 2 hours only to be told a short time the ferry was due to leave that that ferry has been cancelled as well .
What a pathetic service Wightlink offer they deserve to go to the wall , then you’d have to feel for the staff .
The new chief should be ashamed of his company
The Island is desperate for a Bridge.
Could walk across, cycle, scoot or drive across
What a winner it would be for everyone
