Wight Computers has handed over a cheque for £1,000 to John Cattle’s Skate Club C.I.C., supporting the not-for-profit organisation in its mission to make skateboarding accessible for all ages and abilities across the Isle of Wight.
The Ryde-based IT support company selected the Skate Club as its 2025 Charity of the Year, recognising the vital role it plays in community wellbeing, youth engagement, and inclusion.
Andrew Nordbruch, Managing Director of Wight Computers, says:
“I took lessons with John a few years ago and saw first-hand what a welcoming and positive environment the Skate Club creates. They do fantastic work in the local community, and when we heard they were struggling with rising costs, we knew we wanted to help. This donation is our way of giving something back to a cause that genuinely changes lives on the Island.”
Founded and run by Isle of Wight skateboarder John Cattle, the Skate Club is a Community Interest Company that relies on donations, grant funding, and volunteer support to keep sessions affordable and inclusive. The donation from Wight Computers will go towards covering essential costs such as insurance, staff training, and operational expenses.
John Cattle, founder of the Skate Club, has said:
“We’re really grateful to Andrew and the Wight Computers’ team for their support. Things have become harder financially, especially when we’re trying to keep things affordable for the families who need it most. Donations like this give us breathing space while we wait on funding decisions and help us keep doing what we love.”
The Skate Club is currently running a GoFundMe appeal to help meet essential running costs. Any contributions, big or small, are gratefully received.
