Both of the Isle of Wight’s WH Smith stores will soon be known as TGJones following the news that the retailing giant is to be sold to Modella Capital.
The £76million sale was announced in the early hours of this morning (Friday).
There are currently 2 WHSmith stores on the Isle of Wight located on High Street in Newport and High Street in Ryde.
It is understood that all colleagues and stores will be moved as part of the transaction. It is unclear as to when the rebranding of the High Street stores to TGJones will begin.
WHSmith was founded in London back in 1792 by Henry Walton Smith. The brand currently operates 500 High Street, 594 UK Travel and 697 International Travel stores.
For how long?, only a matter of time before
they will be closed down for good – too expensive.
The Works, Poundland, B&M and Home Bargains
are much cheaper for stationery.
The end of another High Street store.
I read on the national news that the WH Smith in Newport will be closed
So did I.
I am surprised the one in Ryde is still open.
