The day has hardly begun but Wightlink’s Portsmouth -Fishbourne car ferry service is already operating with delays of between 60-90 minutes.
Due to earlier essential maintenance overrunning on board Victoria of Wight, the cross-Solent operator is advising that some customers will experience delays today (Wednesday).
Overnight, customers faced delays of an hour-and-a-half, but that has now reduced to 60 minutes.
Wightlink says recovery of the timetable is in progress and that customers should continue to check in for their scheduled sailing time.
A spokesperson has said:
“We’ll keep you updated throughout the morning and again, we apologise sincerely for any changes to your travel plans”.
There has also been disruption on the Fastcat service to and from Ryde Pier Head, with the 05:15 from Portsmouth and the 05:40 from Ryde cancelled due to operational reasons.

As long as they apologise, that’s OK
The sooner they introduce a compensation scheme similar to that on the railways, the better.
The Government should ENFORCE ferry companies
to compensate their customers for their errors / poor
service.
Maybe the shirker is off with the two bob bits!
Tunnel or Bridge please, it does not require so many
numpties to operate.
No it just requires over £3 billion to start with let alone where it would from and to and as for a train route, we no longer have the infrastucture in place for any connections.
Time for you to give your head a wobble little self opinionated numpty.
Bargain, bring it on, much cheaper than HS2
too be honest all they need to do is extend Ryde Pier
Job done, much cheaper.
People could drive, cycle or walk across
A win win for everyone.
Try taking a look at youtube as there is an interesting article re a non doable fixed link and why.
The £3 billion quoted was only a starting figure and would be more than double when/if, ever started.
Where is that money coming from you speak of, this liebour government have already bankrupted our country so a fixed link is a no goer just on that let alone the majority of the island residents donot want such a thing.
Walk across you say, are you on drugs, most people park as close to a shop rather than walk an extra couple of steps, you are hardly going to get them to walk to the island and back.
Now go back to your self opinionated room and close it behind you preferably for good.
It will give something else to moan about when bridge/ tunnel closed due to nimptie crashing their car.
True but if the speed limit is 15mph – 20mph
even a Numpty cannot crash their vehicle
SURELY NOT!
I can never figure it out. How much increase in crime are you looking for? How much more traffic will satisfy you? How much housing lost to holiday homes is your target?
Your hitting your head against a brick wall mate trying to make the self opinionated little buffoon see common sense, i think he was at the back of the queue when it was given out.
