Temperatures are likely to fall close to or below freezing in many places across the Isle of Wight tonight (Tuesday), prompting a yellow weather warning for ice from the IW Met Service.
Localised showers and run-off water from last night’s rainfall may lead to some icy patches, especially in more rural or low lying areas. Black ice (invisible ice) is also likely in some places too.
Windward coasts will remain above freezing and ice here is much less likely.
Local forecasters say the warning will be in place from 18:00 this evening until 11:00 tomorrow morning.
Island Roads have confirmed that gritters will be out in force tonight, treating all route and bridge decks at Stag Lane and Foxes Road in Newport. This will commence at 19:00.
