An urgent warning has been issued to schools, GPs and other organisations informing them about potentially dangerous Ecstasy tablets and Ketamine in circulation amongst young people on the Isle of Wight.
Police have received intelligence regarding 2 different forms of Ecstasy tablets, according to a letter that has been sent out by the local Youth Offending team today (Tuesday).
The letter states that one of the tablets is yellow in colour and known as the “Trump” as it has a shaped area at the top that looks like Donald Trump’s hair. The second pill is said to be a blue or green triangular tablet.
Information suggests that the tablets are double strength, with fears growing that young people on the Island may consume the whole tablet and overdose unintentionally.
The letter has gone on to say:
“You may be aware that recently 4 people were hospitalised in Newport due to taking drugs and experienced organ failure. It is believed that an overdose of Ecstasy could have similar serious health effects and this is a real concern”.
As recently as this morning the Police have received further intelligence that there may also be ‘Rhino Ketamine’ on the Isle of Wight. This is allegedly a particularly strong form of Ketamine and could pose a risk to all.
