A 27-year-old man and a 30-year-old man, both wanted by Surrey Police, have been arrested on the Isle of Wight this afternoon (Tuesday).
Acting on intelligence, local officers descended on the Esplanade in Sandown at around midday in a bid to locate and detain the men.
It didn’t take long for Police to locate the duo who were both arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle.
They have been taken into custody at Newport Police Station where they remain this afternoon.
Sgt Sharland of the South Wight Neighbourhood Policing Team has said:
“Those looking to come to the Isle of Wight to commit crime should think twice – you’re not welcome, we will find you and even help to you leave!
“Thank you to the Public for your understanding whilst we caused some disruption to traffic flow on the Esplanade to effect these arrests”.

Not surprised they ‘caused some disruption to traffic flow’.
REALLY? FIVE vehicles to apprehend TWO people.
As per usual, an excellent use of resources!
As for the spokes persons statement about breaking the law on the Island…
I have only just stopped laughing…
Makes a change for them to actually arrest someone who might be guilty of something
Nick, perhaps you can leave your phone number with the police so they can give you a call the next time they have a violent offender to arrest.
Did the new LGBTQ+ car make its first ‘outing’?
lol
To the so far 22 dislikes, lol. Which came first your gender reassignment, or sense of humor by-pass surgery?
Well done to the police.
If they were wanted by Surrey Police were they actually commiting crime here! I’m a little confused………
Wanted by Surrey Police, had they actually committed any crimes on the Island?
The police do work together to catch criminals. It’s all one country!
To all those making inane comments re our police officers…
They don’t know if they are going into a situation which may involve violence/ weapons so best not judge unless you are prepared to walk in their shoes/ boot’s for a few good shifts….
I say well done for apprehending them both….
Definitely not welcome here !!!!!!
Also if someone stole from you ,,,, who are you going to call ?????
Not ghostbusters I am sure !!!!!!
They were acting on information received, ie, from Surrey police. Other wise no action would have been taken. If you want justice for a crime committed against yourself, the last people you should call is the police. But don’t take my word for it, try calling them, good luck.
