His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant for the Isle of Wight is inviting Island residents to choose their preferred location or suggest where they would like to see His Majesty King Charles III coronation tree planted. Voting for where the tree should be planted is now open and will run for 1 week, closing at noon on Wednesday 22nd November. Casting a vote is quick and easy — simply visit forms.office.com/e/N6DXujTchP and choose your favoured spot between Appley Park in Ryde or Northwood Park in Cowes – or make a suggestion. Mrs Susie Sheldon, the Lord-Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight said:
“I would like to invite our Island residents to vote and tell us, where they would like to see His Majesty King Charles III coronation tree planted. “We have suggested two suitable sites, which are Northwood House Park and Appley Park, but we are also keen to hear your suggestions. Once the vote has taken place and we have our location winner, we can then choose a tree that best suits that area.”
Chairman of the council, Councillor Claire Critchison, said:
“Planting a tree to mark the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III will leave a lasting legacy for our community and it’s great that Island people can help pick where that will be.”
The Lieutenancy, the council and many organisations and individuals previously planted trees in 2022 to mark the Platinum Jubilee of Her late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and as part of the national Queen’s Green Canopy campaign.

One tree in each would be better. In fact, a forest or two would be better. Better for the planet and better for soaking up all of this rain and stopping floods.
Up his arse would be a novel idea
Was thinking exactly the same thing myself!
Or Lynnes bottom.
What’s the point. Some scum will take great delight in destroying the poor tree and be so proud in doing yet another act of vandalism
Aren’t you a little ray of sunshine!
Can I suggest the floating bridge as a good site to plant it?
At least the thing would have a purpose then as well as getting well fertilised but the constant claims of how reliable the FB is.
Lynbottom tip would be good
A fine Oak tree would be lovely and very British, but now, with us ‘having’ to do the P.C thing to always need to include the alarmingly growing minority, perhaps a Banana Tree planted in the centre of the Undercliff road as it will never again be open to traffic, would help appease such.
Unelected and unwanted man, dare I mention the Tampongate scandal while he was still married to Diana.?
If he wants to plant trees then he should plant one tree for every animal that his family have killed over the decades.
The island will soon be a lush green colour once more.
Not my king, and his wife is nobodys queen.
Everyone should ignore this family.
At least his ancestors invaded this country and took control by superior skills, not by floating over and forever holding out a begging bowl, which is happily filled by the naive, dim, who ‘think’ they are victims, only to find out once here, that WE become their victims.
Grandparents seen through these people and kept them at arms length.
Perhaps we ought to be a little more careful in who we have here now, as clearly crimes have never been so numerous or so vile. NOT coincidence that poverty and overcrowding follow WHEREVER on the planet they choose to settle en-masse.
King Charles is a decent guy and had done nothing worse than 99% of men
I might plant my own tree for him
Outside the new bogs by the lift at Shanklin.
