Police have arrested 2 men following a late-night fail to stop incident which led to a short pursuit in Ryde during the early hours of this morning (Friday).
As first reported by Island Echo, a white BMW collided with a roadside tree and flipped – coming to rest on its roof – at just after 00:35.
Around 7 police units, alongside colleagues from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service and the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service, attended the scene on Swanmore Road.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson has this morning said:
“We received a report of a concern over the driver of a BMW on Weeks Road, Ryde, just before 23:50 last night (August 5). The vehicle failed to stop for officers in Ashey Road, and overturned a short distance ahead.”
A 31-year-old man from Wootton has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop and driving a motor vehicle dangerously.
A 27-year-old man from Shanklin has been arrested on suspicion of driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs and using violence to secure entry to a premises.
Both remain in custody at this time.
…and so we see the spread of County Lines drug culture taking hold on our once peaceful island…
Jesus, you’re about 15 years behind the times!
So who was driving? Because the write up says both?
Classic way to get away with it. They blame each other. Courts have no way to find out which. They get away with it.
make them pay for a new tree
WHY SO MANY COMMENTS BEEN REMOVED HERE? And spare a thought for the lovely old tree that was a joy to behold with it’s beautiful green leaves putting out much needed oxygen into the world. Unlike certain hooman beeeings who put nothing useful into the world except a load of grief and just take take take!
