Firefighters rushed to Morrisons in Lake earlier this morning (Sunday) after a car caught fire.
The incident, which occurred in the supermarket car park at around 11:40, was quickly brought under control.
Island Echo understands that an off-duty firefighter managed to control the blaze before the arrival of retained firefighters from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service.
The vehicle was made safe and moved into a park space ahead of recovery.
The driver of the Hyundai has been uninjured.

Don’t recall the firemen in ”Backdraft” looking like our islands own. Maybe time for a re-make..
Big difference between Chicago
firemen and Isle of Wight firemen.

Clever Trevor

Can I please correct you. A FIREMAN works on a train and KEEPS THE FIRE IN THE BOILER GOING the other is a FIREFIGHTER WHO PUTS A FIRE OUT.
