Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after a vehicle failed to stop after knocking a cyclist off their bike in Binstead last night (Thursday).
The incident occurred on Binstead Road, near Pellhurst Road, at around 22:55.
A male cyclist was riding towards Binstead from Ryde when he was knocked off his bike by an unknown vehicle. The car failed to stop at the scene.

Not surprised, not saying its a grockle but, I cycle every day and we seem to be overloaded with cars with roof boxes, drivers of which seem to be blind or not bike friendly. I believe it’s 1.5 meters gap when overtaking a cyclist not 1.5 mm. Anyway 2 more weeks and adios.

1.5mtr gap for passing eh! Foggy, I’ve been clipped a couple of times by cyclists whilst I was WALKING along Little London, Newport. No warning bells just ignorance. It would be nice if cyclists showed as much respect for walkers as they demand from car drivers.

I have a roof box on my car and am a born & bread islander.. Seriously?!? Also, it seems to be one extreme or another here in that, people either go right over into the oncoming lane full on or barely a gnats nadgers width around the cyclist.. Accidents happen I get but.. If there isnt the space to overtake then just wait until there is! Its not rocket science
